Life Partner Search - tips and tricks

No, I am not into life partner search as I already have one loving, caring husband.

I am writing my views, experience on this topic after recent discussions with my cousins, nieces of marriageable age. Love relationship is difficult to manage after all.

Yes, I am already a proud 'Aunt' with nieces in their twenties!

A life partner search is a tedious task. Even if you get a life partner, staying in a loving relationship is an enormously tedious task. With changing lifestyles, changing work aspirations, changing financial aspirations and changing life goals, it is difficult to find one human being on earth who suits your personality.

Check out Marathi movie 'Lagna pahave Karun" which depicts true stories of today's generation who are into life partner search or already married.

With this respect, youngsters who want to get married should seek wisdom from older people who are blessed with good married life. One of my cousins who recently got married was given advice from a Granny of the groom that

"Before being husband-wife, try to be true friends."

How true is that! Husband-wife should be able to laugh together, enjoy moments together, and should be able to fight with each other without getting hurt!! This is possible only if they are true friends...

Another friend of mine gave me advice when I was in the process of life partner search. After meeting somebody from a marital prospect, if you feel this is the person whose face you would like to see 'every day' after getting up in the morning, consider the person as a suitable choice as a 'life partner'.

Caution: - this feeling may come from a person's outer appearance. But be wise enough to understand if you just like the outer appearance or other aspects of the personality as well.

I followed her advice and I am very much thankful for her.

Apart from that, I feel you should have your own criteria that you expect from your life partner. These should be crystal clear in your mind. For instance, I was sure I would like somebody who's upbringing is the same as mine. And my husband is the person who was raised on - 'Plain rice, dal and ghee' just like me! The time when we first met, he was living abroad and I made it clear, I would not like to stay away from the family for long. He felt the same! Another criterion fulfilled, we both love our family...!

I wrote these personal things just because it might help somebody who is going through the process of life partner search...

Anyway, marriage is a serious business, a love relationship is difficult to build. People who are individualistic and love their freedom should stay from it. People like our beloved APJ Abdul Kalam, George Carver who devoted their lives towards their work stayed away from marriage and rightly so. If you can't give time to your spouse, better not get married and avoid getting into the trap of life partner search.

At last, my last sort of "advice":

The Foundation of marriage is the word 'Care'.

Care for her misplaced toothbrush, she will love you!
